31·10 days agoPeople here definitely do say shit like that. It’s literally the very next comment I read.
I read that as you saw a comment on here that said that?

Games@lemmy.world•Arc Raiders Is Already One of the Biggest Extraction Shooters Ever on SteamEnglish
6·11 days agoThey’ve done this with a few other games. I remember the EU5 review being really choppy and it turned out they were running it on like 6-7 year old hardware. It might just be a cost cutting measure to not buy the latest stuff for all their reviewers but I basically ignore most of what they say now.
Seems like trump is doing a lot of remodelling for a house he will only be in for 3 more years, unless…

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•California quietly kills e-bike voucher program, funnels funds into cars insteadEnglish
201·11 days agoSo with the remaining $17m that would be 17,000 e-bike. Say that’s about 1/3 the cost of an e-bike (it’s more like 1/2 but some can get very expensive). For the same level of subsidy you only get 680 cars (average $50k, 1/2 subsidy). Unless it’s still a $1k subsidy in which case what’s the point, who will that persuade who wasn’t already going to buy one? So incredibly wasteful

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Society will accept a death caused by a robotaxi, Waymo co-CEO saysEnglish
24·14 days agoWe can’t just take the robotaxi companies at their word that they are safer though. Countries need some kind of way to test these like human driving tests. Some kind of automated verification system for each update before it can go public.
Otherwise who’s to say Tesla, for example, won’t release a buggy update that becomes worse? They are already releasing versions that allow the car to exceed the speed limit by x amount so to me that would be an instant fail on a test.
I’d buy a private island so that I never had to wipe again, but each to their own…

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•So this just happened in Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦. A driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of his vehicle, got upset at her, before leaving the sceneEnglish
83·1 month agoShe didn’t even “come out of nowhere” looks like the driver should have seen her crossing with enough time. That’s assuming he even looked up from his phone

Technology@lemmy.world•Imgur blocks access to UK users after proposed regulatory fineEnglish
3·1 month agoI can’t see them actually undoing it. It will just become a thing that is no longer enforced. Once one company stands up to it and refuses to pay the fine, and the uk can’t force them to pay, others will do it. Once enough do it the UK will stop trying (hopefully)

UK Politics@feddit.uk•Wood-burning stoves to be allowed in new homes in England despite concerns
7·7 months agoI did like the idea of getting a wood burning stove, but someone near us got one recently and the smell is so noticeable just walking around.
I’d rather not allow them back, but if it’s happening we need way better regulation. The minimum chimney height needs to be higher, and maybe also just ban above a certain density of homes.
The lever be slackin. Let’s get this over and done with

UK Politics@feddit.uk•Nigel Farage thinks net zero is the new Brexit. Starmer can prove him wrong
5·7 months agoI feel like focusing on the opinion polls at this minute is wrong. Reform will force this to be an issue and push climate skeptic propaganda heavily. Given 4 years of that, I can see the publics opinion shifting.

Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening? April 22
6·7 months agoI’ve just finished The Rhine by Ben Coates, which was nice, made me really want to book a holiday and go do the same, traveling from Rotterdam to Basel.
I’ve also been playing a bunch of Assassins Creed Odyssey recently so thought I’d start reading Odyssey by Stephen Fry. Only just started so will see how it goes, but I’ve read the previous three and thought they were great.
Is it really a scam if I know exactly the issues with it and still build something with it? As with everything, if you know what your doing it great, if not, well you’ll have issues
