And like I said
this command didn’t really do what I wanted it to do then
I just want to do something like
find {package name} | grep "config.conf"or something like that. I normally know what the program is called, I just don’t know where it is located.
Here is the entire output I get when I get that command.
username:~$ dpkg -L samba /usr/share/doc/samba/examples /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/README /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/get_next_oid /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/ol-schema-migrate.pl /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba-nds.schema /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba-schema-FDS.ldif /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba-schema-netscapeds5.x.README /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba-schema.IBMSecureWay /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba.ldif /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba.schema /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba.schema.at.IBM-DS /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/LDAP/samba.schema.oc.IBM-DS /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/genlogon /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/genlogon/genlogon.pl /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/mklogon /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/mklogon/mklogon.conf /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/mklogon/mklogon.pl /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/ntlogon /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/ntlogon/README /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/ntlogon/ntlogon.conf /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/logon/ntlogon/ntlogon.py /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/printing /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/printing/VampireDriversFunctions /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/printing/prtpub.c /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/printing/readme.prtpub /usr/share/doc/samba/examples/printing/smbprint.sysv /usr/share/lintian /usr/share/lintian/overrides /usr/share/lintian/overrides/samba /usr/share/man /usr/share/man/man1 /usr/share/man/man1/log2pcap.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/mvxattr.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/oLschema2ldif.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/profiles.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/sharesec.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/smbcontrol.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/smbstatus.1.gz /usr/share/man/man8 /usr/share/man/man8/eventlogadm.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/nmbd.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/pdbedit.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/samba-bgqd.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/samba-gpupdate.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/samba.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/samba_downgrade_db.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/smbd.8.gz /usr/share/samba /usr/share/samba/admx /usr/share/samba/admx/GNOME_Settings.admx /usr/share/samba/admx/en-US /usr/share/samba/admx/en-US/GNOME_Settings.adml /usr/share/samba/admx/en-US/samba.adml /usr/share/samba/admx/ru-RU /usr/share/samba/admx/ru-RU/GNOME_Settings.adml /usr/share/samba/admx/samba.admx /usr/share/samba/mdssvc /usr/share/samba/mdssvc/elasticsearch_mappings.json /usr/share/samba/update-apparmor-samba-profile /var /var/lib /var/lib/samba /var/lib/samba/printers /var/lib/samba/printers/COLOR /var/lib/samba/printers/IA64 /var/lib/samba/printers/W32ALPHA /var/lib/samba/printers/W32MIPS /var/lib/samba/printers/W32PPC /var/lib/samba/printers/W32X86 /var/lib/samba/printers/WIN40 /var/lib/samba/printers/x64 /usr/share/bug/samba/presubj /usr/share/bug/samba/scriptNow, if I grep those commands, I get these outputs

Oh I see, this command didn’t really do what I wanted it to do then. I just wanted to be able to see the locations of any files associated with a program. If I knew the file path I could just find them haha
No error or anything, but it just doesn’t have the
/etc/samba/smb.conffile. Just doesn’t have it.dpkg -S sambadoes find/usr/share/samba/smb.confwhich isn’t the right file either.
I just tried this with Samba (so
dpkg -L sambaanddpkg -S samba, and I also tried addinggrep "smb.conf"and running it with sudo) and I was unable to find the share config file. It’s located under
/etc/samba/smb.confbut that command was returning a path under my local user. This is on Ubuntu

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•They put A.I. in my truck. It warns me of everything I do wrong verbally. It reports everything to HQ. It is from a company called Solera. I take offense to this. Am I wrong? What can I do? Anything?
0·6 months agodon’t let them catch you, you WILL lose your job
Hey director of IT for a trucking company here, i just want to reiterate this part!
Don’t fucking do this. Any of this advice. You WILL lose your job and we WILL blacklist you from the industry for this shit. Maybe if you drivers could actually mange your fucking log books and follow the safety regulations we wouldn’t need to have ELDs and camera and GPS and fucking canbus monitoring and annual inspections and all of the other “”“invasive nonsense”“” the government requires.
I dont want it either. Its all crazy expensive, annoying to manage, and I have to constantly deal with drivers complaining about it.
Sorry. I’m a little upset with this issue because its a constant issue i have at work. But no there is nothing you can do besides just get another job.
I just want to reiterate it again. Do NOT mess with the equipment your company has in your truck. At best you’ll just get fired but I’ve seen my company respond with legal measures in the past.

2·6 months agoThe only time I get Starbucks is when I am in a new city and busy, like for work. Since it is a chain I can know that I will get the exact same thing in the exact same quality essentially anywhere in the country.
To me it’s a really nice safety net if im stressed or anxious and far from home and my local coffee shops.

I have to constantly remind myself that is just marketing from cigarette companies haha

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How would you run a society?
1·7 months agoI’m curious on how you reconcile the “towns not much larger than 700 people” and the advanced automation you have in your world.
Drones, computers, or any of the 15 layers you need to support any “network” need significantly more people than groups of 700 to manufacture.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How would you run a society?
41·7 months agoThat’s just how the game is. It’s incredibly simplified. Every issue has a decision for you to make and that decision only impacts 2-4 things. Usually 1-2 positives, and 1-2 negatives.
It’s a really fun little game but it shouldn’t be used as a replacement for actual policy.

That’s one feature I wish would come back to streaming services

3·7 months agoWhat’s up with audacity? I use it like twice a year so I just download it whenever I need and uninstall it. I don’t really do anything except some incredibly basic things (like record audio, cut segments out, maybe some noise reduction if I’m feeling fancy)
Yeah, in markdown the
\basically means “stop formatting”. It’s nice for more complicated things like math problems but if you don’t know it can be annoying.

Technology@lemmy.world•Report: Apple CEO “cares about nothing else” Than Building Breakout AR Glasses Before MetaEnglish
2·7 months agoThe resolution thing is actually almost solved IMO. I used my Quest 3 in AR mode almost every single day and the screens are perfectly fine for reading text or having a video on in the background.
Yeah there’s still some screen door effect but it’s really only noticeable when I look for it, it disappears in normal use.
And I genuinely can’t think of a reason you would need 1000hz displays. Human eyes start to get steady motion at like 50-60 and 90-150 is when the normal eye starts to hit the limit.

That’s the thing though, when you install Samba it does create an empty config file at
\etc\samba\smb.conf, or at least I’ve never created one
