politics @lemmy.world•Democrats seek investigation into agency messages blaming Democrats for the shutdownEnglish
375·2 days agoNo, it is the Democrats fault for the shutdown in a way (hear me out). Those messages are illegal but they are kinda right. By choosing to cave and getting virtually nothing in exchange, the DNC cemented the complete uselessness of the grandstanding act. Together with the Republicans they are responsible for unnecessary suffering because they folded like a cheap suit. What was even the point? Why not just give Republicans whatever they want from the beginning if you’re going to bend over and gleefully call them daddy?
It was a daring strategy, but now I wish you had never even tried. Now you think you’re going to fight them in court? These people don’t give a shit about the law. You’re just going to keep getting fucked harder. Nicely done. I guess the party is getting exactly what they want.
I apologize dear reader but I am angry.

politics @lemmy.world•Republicans push to strip Zohran Mamdani of US citizenship.English
78·3 days ago“If Mamdani lied on his naturalisation documents, he doesn’t get to be a citizen, and he certainly doesn’t get to run for mayor of New York City. A great American city is on the precipice of being run by a communist who has publicly embraced a terroristic ideology,” Representative Andy Ogles from the Republican party said in an October 29 news release, after asking US Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Mamdani.
Andy Ogles you are pathetic. Have you considered calling him a poopoo head?
Republican.
Ah!
This nobody has a lot of opinions 👴
You underestimate the murderous-ness of chickens.
Yup. Noticed it was wrong instantly because I had to study this work way back in high school.

politics @lemmy.world•Progressives Tell Dems Thinking of Capitulating to GOP on Shutdown: 'You Cave, You Lose'English
30·6 days agoThe DNC loves to shoot itself in both feet and also its face, preferring to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory whenever possible.
In short, they seem to love losing. I hope they hold fast and do some actual fighting with what positions they have.

Games@lemmy.world•Square Enix says it wants generative AI to be doing 70% of its QA and debugging by the end of 2027English
14·6 days agoConsidering how the open source community is being inundated with low-quality bug reports filed using AI, I don’t have much faith in the tech reviewing code, let alone writing it correctly.
Could it be a useful aid? Sure, but 70% of your reviewing is a pie-in-the-sky pipe dream. AI just isn’t ready for this level of responsibility in any organization.
Wow! Getting abused through vendor lock in does not make me want to buy a new PlayStation if this is true.

Linux@lemmy.world•CISA Warns of Linux Kernel Use-After-Free Vulnerability Exploited in Attacks to Deploy RansomwareEnglish
1·9 days agoI think the idea is that it’s easier to manage your resources in C++ if you write your code using RAII. Linux is mainly C, not C++, which makes resource management a little bit more manual.
Rust however categorically tries to stop these problems from happening in an even stronger way. You can still write bad code in any language, but it’s supposed to be a lot more difficult to get memory corruption.

54·9 days agoPerhaps not. They might have to swear in the new Democrat they’re currently blocking for a month now, which could possibly lead to the release of some iteration of the Epstein files.
Unfortunately there is significant overlap between plain-text-password-servers and servers that can’t be bothered to use antivirus. Also, the string may not work if it’s not at the start of the file. AV often doesn’t process the whole file for efficiency purposes.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is lemmy doing about bot scrapers?English
1·9 days agoIt is effective at discouraging bots when looking at real world services today, but indeed you have found the primary downside. It does impose costs on users even if the costs are disproportionately placed on bots.

Try to do your homework in class i.e. slip chores into the week as much as possible, and then free up a rest and relaxation day. That seems to work best for me.
