Codex@lemmy.worldto People Twitter@sh.itjust.works•Millennials know all about this. And the hate-mongers of today will die with nobody to remember them
1·1 year agoThe problem is that you can be angry all day and it won’t accomplish anything without coordinated, planned, collective action. And collective action is made more difficult with angry people.
Anger motivates you to act Right Now, which is why it’s good for reactionaries. They want you either impotently angry so you can’t think clearly to make those long term, organized plans; or they want you mad enough to go do a little stochastic terrorism.
Progressives have a lot of trouble hitting the slow-burn simmer of anger in a way that’s motivational and doesn’t slip into despair when you get tired from all that rage that you can’t turn into immediate results.
It’s posts that are a step up from piss-posting, but below regular unmodified posting.
Don’t worry, once you get the job you’ll discover that they lied about what the work is anyway. You thought the job was sitting quietly at a desk and solving little dev tasks. Actually that’s 25% of the job, the rest is: 25% meetings where they make doing the little tasks harder, confusing, and miserable, 25% other tasks you aren’t good at and that aren’t part of your job, and the last 25% is more meetings about those other things. The ratios will adjust over time until only about 10% of your job is doing your job, and the other 90% is email and meetings.

0·1 year agoRemember when Humble Bundle was actually a charity and not just a charity-themed storefront owned by IGN?
Well, technically owned by IGN, a subsidiary of Ziff-Davis, formerly J2 Global, formerly Ziff-Davis.
I’m sure firing what was left of the employees with any commitment to the concept of HB and folding the brand under the rest of your e-commerce verticle will have no further adverse effects on the quality or usability of HB as a service.

Codex@lemmy.worldto Music@lemmy.world•Jack Black cancels Tenacious D tour and places future projects on hold after Kyle Gass comments on TrumpEnglish
3·1 year agoThankfully, it’s not the commentary I was afraid he’d offered. JB sounds spineless in this, it was a joke and an honest expression of the very real existential fear people feel towards Trump rule.
I fucking hate this. Trump gets on mic everyday to wish death on some innocent groups of people but we’re fucking forbidden from joking about it towards him?
Edit: I hope everyone who downvotes me gets very peacefully and nonviolently re-educated.
I think you’d do better at this point to study how resistance movements within fascism form and survive because that’s about to be a lot more relevant.
Your mother and I would still be together Shinji, if you’d just piloted the Eva.
Knowing it from Evangelion probably means you are gay, depressed, and have divorced parents.
The cantina band is Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes, but apparently Max Rebo is the true jizz-wailer (as they’re canonically called).

101·1 year agoCrime goes down, means 📉
Less prisoners, means 🕊
Less prison profits, means 💸😱
New crimes are invented 👮♂️
And ain’t it great how prisons are paid per prisoner by the state and also get to do some slave labor, as a treat. But when the profits are low, just complain to the state that you need to be paid more and have more prisoners, it’s free money from your good friends on the senate.

Alright fellow queers, so what are celebrating next month? My top vote is Gluttony, as always, but I do also vibe with Sloth Month? Who couldn’t use a little r&r after all that pride?

18·1 year agoThis is the actual problem. Boomer voters (who are pathologically trapped in adolescence; look at how they projected views of eternal childhood onto Millennials) would only feel safe with the last of the ancient preceeding generation. “Save us elder daddies, we have no minds to think but can’t trust the ‘children’ younger than us to know anything!”

4·1 year agoOh for the names?
Ogre Tactics is the first one, a series of earlier tactical games (started on the snes maybe?)
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is the other. It’s actually more like the Commandos games, a kind of overhead team stealth sim.
And I was just joking but if you’re on a tictac roll please, by all means, help yourself!
