I think you may be overestating the amount of crossposts that happen for the idea that it would somehow cause ‘monoculturalism’

Alternative suggestion - allow communities to block crossposting functionality with specified communities in the community settings.

Piefed splits up the comment boxes based on community when a thread is crossposted, so you can still distinguish between the comment boxes on different communities despite them being visible.
That said, a potential future option here would be a community opt-out of crosspost functionality in this way

It’s not that cluttered. Have you looked at how it looks on piefed?

The different communities on Piefed are still separated within the post. You can still see which community you would be replying to

Piefed has hashtags, which is close to what OP wants.

Piefed groups comment boxes from crossposts into one post. So no matter which crosspost you’re looking at, you’ll see all responses.

I’m not from the USA, and I’m not right-wing.

I’m discussing the Original Post. If you want to also drag iloveDigit@piefed.social’s comments into this. I’m not your guy.
He also continued to confirm he thought that in this thread.
Same goes for spoon-feeding you The Overton Window, Embrace/Expand/Extinguish strategies, or the current and past strategies of fascists when it comes to “debate” in the public sphere. You’ve twisted OP’s original words, moved the goal-posts on them, and apparenly
I have not twisted anyone’s words. That is what he claims.
managed to ignore the hundred’s of break-downs of just why the fuck Charlie Kirk was such a despicable person.
What does Charlie Kirk have to do with anything here? When did I say anything about him whatsoever?

You’ve got it backwards. “We’re one of the groups backed by the FCC” on the right three. No mention of the FCC on the far left. No mention of censorship or suppression, just a lack of backing or promotion.
Yes, I know. Implicit in his idea here is that the FCC specifically shuts down ‘progressive’ themed websites and discussions online. Which he has confirmed he thinks happens here, and indeed in other threads.
You literaly invented your own narrative, misrepresenting OP’s rather than actually contradicting it; Straight from the pages of the fascist’s playbook.
What are you on about?

Right, but that’s not what the OP is claiming regarding what the FCC does here.

I’m just saying that embedding software restrictions on phones known to be bought for under 16s isn’t going to be especially effective at stopping them from popping up on social media. It would have some impact, but not substantial.

Do you mean like card details?
I don’t think that’s comparable to giving your passport or face to every single community website. Moreover, a dog grooming website is presumably not expecting bulk sign-ups and is likely handled by humans.

What basic things are you referring to?

kids could still use social media on computers and tablets, and there’s no way to stop phones being hand-me-downed or ensure adults don’t just buy phones for their kids as ‘adult’ phones.

I will rephrase: The vast majority of people do not believe that the FCC has any such power whatsoever. If you refuse to listen to them because they reject your claim regarding the FCC, then you will yourself quickly talking to the wall.

That’s everyone except you. Literally no-one believes that the FCC has this within their power.

I don’t really care about your wider political opinions - I was just giving context on your position to another user. Just noting that your weird issue against the FCC is rooted in claims you refuse to back up, and no-one is going take your worldview seriously if you refuse to back it up when queried.
And I’m not going to edit shit.

So do you some links for me to browse that show the FCC shutting down a website?
This would mean a fundamental change to how both Lemmy and Piefed work.
