My daughter thought everyone with glasses was me until she turned 3 so that checks out.
You have about as much context as I do and I’ve watched the whole show.
Gintama is a gag anime and is for the most part episodic so you can usually jump into any episode without missing much. There’s an overarching plotline where aliens came to Japan during the age of the samurai who all fought against them. The aliens won because space is massive and there are many races of aliens and mercenaries, but ultimately Earth just became another planet to visit and trade with. The samurai resistance was fierce so the aliens banned swords except for the police. This plotline only matters for a few bigger arcs but mainly it just explains why there are samurai with modern and futuristic technology.
The main cast is a ragtag trio who will take on any request for money, the main character is lazy but loyal, and the characters in the clip are friendly reoccurring characters. The guy with the glasses is named Shinpachi and is part of the Odd Jobs trio. He’s an awkward character who is too shy and awkward to find romance and is obsessed with a kpop idol.
Those Pandemonium bugs are a snack that demons enjoy eating but they can transform their face into anything. Shinpachi ends up falling in love with it because he’s so desperate for love. It became a reoccurring bit where the Pandemonium shows up in multiple episodes and Shinpachi who is usually the straight-man completely loses his role as he’s head over heels in love with this grotesque bug that everyone else sees as disgusting
Pandemonium-san! From an anime called Gintama

And those 🐜 That was the only movie I’ve watched in a movie theater that was so bad that I fell asleep
I wish they’d bring these to the US, not our shitty K-Mart versions that taste like they’re sweetened with Splenda

I had no idea until I read Katy’s comment, it’s a game changer

Holy crap that’s exactly what I was looking for, thank you!!

I did this as well but the other accounts get ads because the premium only applies to my first account. Terrible user experience and Google go hand in hand

It really is wild how a company can be so massive yet unable to do basic UI. I got a notification that someone replied to a YouTube comment I made so I clicked the notification and it opened up YouTube’s landing page. I tried to find notifications and couldn’t so instead I tried to find a page that has my comment history.
I had to look it up and apparently you can’t even find it on YouTube, you have to go to a separate website, my activity.google.com.

I wish there was a feature like this on YouTube. I’d love a profile for watching educational videos, a profile for feeding me cool videos when I’m high, and a profile for when my kids want to watch stuff. I’m tired of vibing and listening to music videos only to get hit with a language learning podcast or Disney songs.
It’s insane that they have an incognito mode that still serves up ads even though I have premium.
Can’t wait for Dave to taste test

The procedure was great, I was super serene with the laughing gas. The boys were really sensitive for a couple of weeks, any tap felt like a kick, but afterwards it’s business as usual.
I’m glad it’s not super easy to get nitrous anymore because I would get addicted pretty quickly lol

Didn’t realize it was out yet, thanks for the reminder!

TL;DW: keep listening to Japanese media for a couple of hours a day. Watch anime in Japanese with no subs, listen to Japanese podcasts or audiobooks in Japanese while you’re working or doing something else, etc. Try to find something you know a bit about because it will help keep you engaged and help with context.
There’s a chapter about tolerating ambiguity which means they in the beginning you won’t understand anything and it will be very frustrating but you need to accept it and keep feeding your brain Japanese inputs. You’ll learn the sentence structure and vocabulary as well as learning pronunciation, this is basically how babies learn. You’re brain is really good at pattern recognition so just give it enough inputs and eventually it will start to click
Start doing Anki cards which will supplement all the inputs. Don’t go overboard, just learn the alphabets and then some common vocab and keep listening to other media. After about a year, start reading and writing a lot. Read manga, read books, and start writing notes and stuff in Japanese.
That’s basically it. You can use study materials if you want but feeding your brain more inputs is key. In addition to being really effective it has the benefit of being way more fun than studying grammar and whatnot
I still feel those tiny needles that got me 20 years ago. Those bastards are impossible to remove because they’re so brittle and just snap off
That sounds like complete damage control lies. Why would the AI think the chef had finished prepping the sauce just because there was heavy usage??

Hahaha that sign is so charming though

I’m not sure if it’s because these studies are coming out or if it’s coincidence but Hank just put out a video about coral reefs and how it’s not too late to help them. It’s not all doom and gloom and we shouldn’t give up!
I created a little script that ran on startup that would wait a random amount of time between 5 and 15 mins and would just hit the left key once. I dropped it on a dev’s computer when he left it unlocked and forgot about it. After weeks of torment, it activated while he had a YouTube video so he figured out it wasn’t his fault. He was convinced it was the keyboard and started harassing IT so I had to come clean.
Jokes on me though, every time there was any quirk on his computer, server, or with his code he blamed me and didn’t believe me.
