You’ve probably got enough helpful responses from this, but I’ll throw in my two cents here. I am used to modding Skyrim on Windows, I last modded a few years ago and was ok at it. I usually manually made modlists with MO2 but have also used wabbajack. Recently I’ve been gaming on Pop!Os and was able to get steam, steam tinker launcher (STL), and vortex to play nicely on a different game (non-bethesda). Vortex only worked with hardlinks using STL, I had to reread that readme like 5 times to realize this checkbox on vortex was vital (by default it was on symlinks). I could not get the flatpak versions of these apps to play nicely. I was able to download from nexusmods on librewolf and it would open in vortex, something a lot of people seemed to have trouble with, but for me, It Just Works. Nexus premium is also good to have. I don’t know how hard it is to get MO2 (seems STL also supports it) or wabbajack working on linux, but if I ever find out, I’ll let you know.

IIRC Bethesda lets mod creators own the rights to their mods so Bethesda can’t just roll in the bug fixes into the actual game without the mod creator’s permission. I know the Skyrim unofficial patch is ran by a team (Arthmoor) obsessed with DMCA’ing other people as well as just being dicks in general. Some of the “fixes” aren’t really fixes and just what the team personally thought how the game should be.

I recommend against Hawaii. It’s not exactly self sustaining since there are too many people living there. Housing/rent is crazy high so there are many homeless. Everything is much more expensive. Jobs can be hard to find. The islands are sinking. Storms still hit every season. Depending on the island, you may be dealing with volcanic eruptions and vog. And I do believe their coral reefs are bleaching. It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Then factor in the locals, they only want locals living there and to restore their Hawaiian Kingdom, #GoHomeHaole. Best to pick somewhere else.

I heard they use Nvidia ACE tech so their SmartZoi system works on a select few cards at the moment, all Nvidia. The devs plan to support AMD and such in the future. You can find info about it on reddit or their discord, sadly no lemmy communities yet.

Krafton made this AI themselves using assets they either owned or were copyright-free that is run locally on your machine. This was announced when the demo was out. Not sure if that will change your mind but I don’t see a problem with it.

I really wish people would stop with AI hate. So many people on steam were bitching about this, how unethical AI is and not only telling others to not buy the game, but insulting anyone who defended Krafton. My problem is that people see “AI” and shut down. Even when told that Krafton made this AI themselves using assets they either owned or were copyright-free that is run locally on your machine, people continued complaining. This was announced when the demo was out.

Also I am tired of right wingers on steam. This doesn’t relate to your comment but the second common complaint I saw a lot on the forums besides AI was that the game is “woke” and thus bad for having a non binary option. The game is bugged with not allowing homosexual relationships, this made the right wingers happy because they hate the “globohomo agenda.” I am tired of their shit. Your Zoi can be hetero, homo, or bi. Your Zoi also picks body types. Checkboxes are not oppressive, fucking assholes.

Nah, I’ve got a zoomer relative that has learned helplessness around computers. They have their own computer for gaming and need me to hold their hand through everything. I tell them to web search, they say they don’t understand what anything means, so I have to hold their hand through web searching to fix their problem. If something doesn’t work from steam when they double click it, they can’t figure it out. They get an error message at any point and their only solution is to bug someone else about it. I refuse to solve their problem without telling them to web search it, that is how you are supposed to learn. It’s super annoying so I started telling them “idk, google it.” They still bug others instead now.

I also have a zoomer friend older than my relative that is also a PC gamer, they are slightly better but still need people to guide them through screen share.

I bought Sims 4 on release and regretted it. It released without pools, without toddlers, babies were just objects like back in Sims 1, no genealogy system, no basements, no wants/fears (introduced in Sims 2), and obviously no cool stuff (supernatural Sims, university, ambitions careers, nightlight, pets, horses, seasons/weather, celebrities, etc.). No Create A Style from Sims 3, no truly open neighborhoods like Sims 3, just a bare bones downgraded POS. The games aren’t enjoyable IMO without all the EP content anyway. EA/Maxis will never get a penny from me again. I bought Sims 2 base and pirated the dlc, pirated Sims 3 and its dlc, and then bought Sims 4 base but only really played many years later with pirated dlc. Edit: forgot to add I played nearly all Sims content on console as well, I was a major Sims fan.

Inzoi is something I have been waiting for and don’t mind buying depending on price, the graphics are closer to what I usually mod my Sims to look like since I never liked the cartoon look.
