Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why are people afraid of commitment in relationships?English
12·6 天前Because people do not want to be committed to the wrong person. They need time to asses the other person of the relationship to judge if they can commit.
Respectable ones, do not store them, they just check them live. If they do, then they open the door for problems.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the most attractive quality in a person that instantly makes them desirable?English
14·8 天前A genuine smile.
Because users need to be accountable for how they use their services, like hosting phishing websites, sending massive spam or scam campaigns. They would ask for a selfie, not stored, to match it with an ID.
Not all hosting providers do ask for ID. A credit card is not enough to prove identity because you can use virtual anonymous ones.
If the service has legitimate reasons, like it is a web hosting company or something governmental, then why not. If it is a social network, a game or the like, I will simply not use it.
Using services of a hosting company is something very serious, because the stakes are high, both in costs and in legal responsibility, so most likely you will need to prove your identity. Some companies will even require a meeting to sign a contract.
Rytgmbox does not do your feature number 3, my personal workaround is to, before closing the app, add the current song to the play queue, so it will be picked up next time you start the application.

She could have just made a complicated none sense inside and pretend it is a nuclear bomb. Nobody would ever dare it give it a try. So nobody would know it is just a pile of none sense.

I’ve se en much much worse where you can’t keep track of where branches come from and where they go, and even if you do, you cannot predict what they can contain.
Community and sub-community.
You are right. We get lost in the technicalities and forget how difficult it is for non technical users to understand the technology.
Speaking about community and the “Benefits” would be better for everyone.
A “community” is identified by a romaine name. And communities still speak to other compatible communities.
At work, seeing how the marketing team keeps changing wordings to fond the one with better conversion rate, I find what we do here is just bare bones.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you rather live the life of an average person in the current era, or live as an absolute monarch 500 years ago? Why?
91·6 个月前I see everyone worried about hygiene in European countries. So I would ho with a monarch in an Islamic region because of higher standard in hygiene. Muslims clean themselves Fromm 1 to 5 times a day. Take full baths after having sex. They also avoid eating dirty foods or animals that could cause disease like pigs. They also had a somewhat better medicine and medical practice.
At the time some of the monarch had a good time, and some of them lived in a constant state of unrest.
So if I had to respawn my same territory it would be great. I would have some occasional attempted assaniation or coup but its just a but more than what we see today. But having my own guard and stuff would make me feel less worried. Even if I endup getting assassinated I would have lived a better life than today maybe.
For sure we have many technologically induced freedoms like travel and telecommunications but I don’t have the means to travel. But as a monarch, while it would take me longer than today, I would still manage to travel as I want. In fact Arabs are known to be biggest travelers.
